Height Safety Gear Inspection – How Often?
Height safety equipment, including harnesses, require a formal, recorded inspection at least every six months by a trained and qualified height safety equipment inspector.
Height safety items include:
- Harnesses
- Fall Arrest Lanyards
- Shock Packs
- Ropes & Grabs
- Roof Workers Kits
- Tie Off Adpators
- Karabiners & Hooks
- SRL (retractable) fall arrestors
- Tripods & Davits
- Winches
Most items which include webbing or rope have a 10 year maximum life before being required to be removed from service. Some retractable devices are only warrantied for up to two years, after which they need to be removed from service.
